%X The characteristics of public opinion are studied from the aspects of emotion, behavior and cognition, and a new network public opinion indicator system based on different granularity is proposed. This system can help analyze the situation of public opinion, and hold its trend. Meanwhile, it can also be used to predict the intensity of events, aiming at giving an early warning of public opinion events. The events on Sina microblog are taken as the dataset to evaluate the performance of the indicator system. The experiment results show that the indicator system provides good description of the characteristics of the public opinion events and matches the rule of the development of the public opinion, and also the system has a good predictive effect.
